چکیده

The electrooxidation of methylhydrazine, 1,2-dirnethylhydrazine, and 1,1 -dimethylhydrazine at a platinum electrode was studied using chronopotentiometry, coulometry, and product analysis. The results show that methjJlhydrazine is oxidized in an over-all four-electron reaction to nitrogen and methanol. The oxidation of 1,2-dimethylhydvazine proceeds by an initial two-electron oxidation, followed by a chemical reaction leading to formation of formaldehyde and methylhydrazine. The oxidation of 1,l-dimethylhydrazine occurs b y a two-electron oxidation to 1,l-dimethyldiazene which undergoes a relatively slow chemical decomposition.

Oxidation of methylhydrazines to mutagenic methylating derivatives and inducers of the adaptive response of Escherichia coli to alkylation damage.

The methylhydrazines, monomethylhydrazine, 1,1-dimethylhydrazine, and 1,2-dimethylhydrazine, are known carcinogens but only weak mutagens in the Ames test. Chemical oxidation of these compounds by potassium ferricyanide greatly enhanced their mutagenicity to an Escherichia coli ada mutant and converted them into inducers of the adaptive response of E. coli to alkylation damage. Direct Electrochemistry of Polyphenol Oxidase

The electrochemistry of banana tissues on a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) is presented. Cyclic voltammetry is applied to investigate the direct electrochemistry of banana tissues i.e. a source of polyphenol oxidase (PPO). A redox couple with an anodic and counterpart cathodic peak is obtained. The influence of various parameters such as pH,...

Development of Carbon Paste Electrode/EDTA/Polymer Sensor for Heavy Metals Detection

The method used to immobilize the polymer on the Disodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate (EDTA) modified carbon paste electrode (CPE/EDTA) has proved its effectiveness for the detection and chelation of heavy metals in aqueous solution. Its complex formation with Pb(II) was examined by square wave voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. CPE/EDTA electrodes are predisposed to the phenomenon of dissolu...
